Virtual Healthcare Lands at Bradley

June 17, 2025

Hartford HealthCare and OnMed have launched the nation’s first OnMed CareStation inside ‘Terminal A’ at Bradley International Airport.

This innovative health hub brings real-time, high-tech virtual care directly to travelers and airport staff — redefining how and where care is delivered.

With thousands of passengers moving through Bradley International Airport each day, the OnMed CareStation offers a private, seamless healthcare experience without ever leaving the terminal.

“At Hartford HealthCare, we are committed to using every resource possible to bring high-quality healthcare to all our communities,” said Jeffrey A. Flaks, president and chief executive officer. “This new OnMed location at Bradley International Airport demonstrates how we’re expanding access in innovative ways — from grocery stores to downtown Hartford to the places people travel. We are proud to support the travelers who pass through Bradley every day and, more importantly, to stand alongside the people of Connecticut by making high-quality care more convenient, more connected and more accessible than ever before.”

The CareStation is equipped with high-definition cameras, real-time diagnostic tools and advanced health technology.

Users can connect virtually with a licensed clinical provider for a one-on-one consultation, and in just minutes, be evaluated, diagnosed and even prescribed treatment.

“Bradley International Airport is more than a travel hub, it’s now a doorway to immediate, high-quality care, ” said Karthik Ganesh, CEO of OnMed. “Whether a traveler or an airport employee finishing a shift, everyone deserves timely access to healthcare. This OnMed CareStation is our commitment to meeting people where life happens.”

Prescriptions and follow-up referrals are available on the spot, with no appointment needed. The CareStation operates with extended hours, seven days a week, making it a valuable resource not only for travelers but also for airport employees and flight crews.

“Congratulations to Hartford HealthCare on their innovative efforts to revolutionize healthcare,” said Michael W. Shea, executive director of the Connecticut Airport Authority. “We are pleased to introduce their renowned brand and virtual care to millions of passengers at Bradley International Airport.”

How it works

The OnMed CareStation connects patients with licensed providers using high-definition video. A certified nursing assistant or medical assistant initiates the intake process, verifies identification and insurance, gathers vital signs such as temperature, weight, blood oxygen and blood pressure, and then connects the patient to a clinician for a secure, one-on-one virtual visit.

Using thermal imaging cameras and medical-grade tools, OnMed providers can diagnose and treat up to 85% of conditions typically seen in primary care — including:

  • Respiratory Illnesses
  • Infections
  • Headaches
  • Allergies
  • Heartburn

If needed, patients receive e-prescriptions and referrals for follow-up care or screenings. Visits are securely documented in MyChart for easy coordination with other care providers.

The CareStation’s advanced features include:

  • Privacy-enhancing fogging and locking doors
  • No-appointment access, seven days a week
  • Extended hours to match consumer schedules
  • Bilingual support (English and more languages to come)

The Bradley International Airport location joins two existing OnMed CareStations: one at the Stop & Shop in Killingly Commons and another at The Village in downtown Hartford serving approximately 100 patients per month — a number expected to grow significantly with the high volume of travelers and staff at the airport.

A growing network of convenient care

OnMed is one of seven convenient same-day care options offered through Hartford HealthCare, which include:

  • GoHealth Urgent Care
  • Hartford HealthCare Medical Group walk-ins
  • One Medical
  • HHC at Walgreens
  • Care Now at Hartford Hospital
